Georgia School of Orthodontics to Give Free Orthodontic Care to Local Kids

The Georgia School of Orthodontics will provide complimentary orthodontic care to three Gwinnett kids.

The school announced the names of the three recipients during the groundbreaking for its second campus in Duluth last week.

“We chose three children who truly inspired us and whose stories touched our hearts,” said Dr. Ricky E. Harrell, program director at GSO. “We want to help boost their confidence by giving them the smile they have always dreamed of and deserve.”

Dacula resident Sierra Henson, 14, was one of the children selected to receive free orthodontic care, which will include appliances, braces, retainers and more at no cost. Henson is a straight A student enrolled in AP and gifted classes. Because of a family member’s expensive medical costs, it seemed like Henson wouldn’t be able to receive orthodontic care.

Now, she can.

Savien Cox, a fifth-grader from Lawrenceville, will also be able to fix his orthodontic problems thanks to GSO. Cox is a happy kid who loves to smile, but suffers from low-self esteem over his teeth. Soon, braces will help him overcome those insecurities.

Free braces will soon also help Damian Soler, 13. Soler lives in Decatur, but comes from Gwinnett. His teeth prevent him from being able to close his mouth while he sleeps. As a result, he suffers from constant sore throats. Soon, he’ll be able to sleep peacefully.

GSO will also provide children who were nominated for free care, but not selected, with a reduction in the cost of their orthodontic treatment. It’s all part of the school’s commitment of providing $100,000 of orthodontic care to Georgians.
