One of the Best Ways to Honor a Veteran is to Hire a Veteran

Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO) gives back to veterans in several ways, and hiring is just one of them. Whether it’s donating hundreds of toothbrushes and floss for holiday gift baskets to veterans and military members in need, or providing complimentary orthodontic treatment to children through its Purple Heart Smiles program, GSO makes giving back to the military in metro Atlanta a year-round mission.

“Many of our faculty, members of our orthodontic residency program, and our administrative staff are veterans and military personnel,” said Dr. Ricky E. Harrell, Program Director at GSO. “Hiring veterans has always been an integral part of our growth plan and we are fortunate to have these ‘heroes’ on the front lines serving GSO and residents of the communities which we serve.”

Additionally, the School’s state-of-the-art patient clinics in Gwinnett and Atlanta locations, offer $300 off treatment to active military throughout the year. Currently, 23 Purple Heart Smiles patients (children of Purple Heart Recipients) are in treatment, which equates to an investment of over $80,000 into the surrounding community as the program continues to grow. To date, GSO has provided over $125,000 in complementary care through Purple Heart Smiles and Gift of a Smile.
